The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently released two proposed Tentative Interim Amendments (TIAs) to the 2023 Edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Submissions are by Greg Woyczynski, Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM). Comment closing date is September 6, 2023.
The proposed revisions :

Reference: 210.8(A) Exception No. 5 (new)
1. Add a new Exception No. 5 to section 210.8(A) to read as follows:
210.8(A) Dwelling Units.
Exception No. 5: GFCI protection shall not be required for a receptacle serving a refrigerator or HVAC appliance if all of the following conditions are met:
(1) The appliance is located within a dedicated space.
(2) The appliance is on an individual branch circuit.
(3) In normal use, the appliance is not easily moved or is fastened in place.
This exception shall expire January 1, 2028.

210.8(A) Dwelling Units.
Exception No. 6: GFCI protection shall not be required for a receptacle serving an electric range, wall-mounted oven, counter-mounted cooking unit, or microwave oven if both of the following conditions are met:
(1) The appliance is located within a dedicated space.
(2) In normal use, the appliance is not easily moved or is fastened in place.
This exception shall expire January 1, 2028.
2. Add a new Exception to section 210.8(D) to read as follows:
210.8(D) Specific Appliances.
Exception: GFCI protection shall not be required for an outlet supplying an electric range, wall-mounted oven, counter-mounted cooking unit, or microwave oven if both of the following conditions are met:
(1) The appliance is located within a dedicated space.
(2) In normal use, the appliance is not easily moved or is fastened in place.
This exception shall expire January 1, 2028.
